Energy Access for the poor in Sub-Saharan Africa to meet the Millennium Development Goals

2 out of 3 families in Africa live without electricity, and their main energy source for cooking and heating is still on traditional biomass (wood, dung, charcoal, etc.)
We know that access to modern energy transforms lives: improving health and education and helping families out of poverty. However, if the policies and actions do not change, projections show in the next two decades almost no progress will be made in improving poor people’s access to electricity.
It’s an outrage that we are determined to tackle, by advocating for Energy for All in sub-Saharan Africa in 2030
In this context, the Research Group on Development Cooperation and Human Development (GRECDH/UPC) has joined the challenge and commitment of getting public and political support to increase the EU aid directed to energy access for the poor in Sub-Saharan Africa, in the framework of the project Energy Access for the poor in Sub-Saharan Africa to meet the Millennium Development Goals (ENERGY FOR ALL 2030).
